NSWFRA Referees will be given special dispensation to wear pink sweatbands while officiating on Football NSW Futsal Premier & Super League fixtures during the month of October.
The NSWFRA will also be encouraging all of it's members to purchase and wear pink ribbon merchandise as part of their off field dress.
The initiative was started by Advanced Referees Panel member Darren Allatt who will be donating all of his match fees from Premier & Super League fixtures to the National Breast Cancer Foundation for the month of October.
Allatt, 21, is a member of the Supplementary 1 Referees Group and is a future aspirant for the NSWFRA's elite Select Group of referees.
NSWFRA President Gavin Lee applauded Allatt's initiative and encouraged all NSWFRA members to follow his example.
"Throughout October, a referee such as Darren has the potential to earn somewhere around the $500 mark in match fees, and that is certainly a great individual contribution to the National Breast Cancer Foundation's campaign.
"Darren has matured a lot, both as a referee and a person over the last couple of years, and I think this is a great example of that.
"I am very proud of Darren's determination to do what he can for the National Breast Cancer Foundation's October campaign and I think he serves as a great example to all of our members", Gavin Lee said.
