Appointments for the Football NSW Winter State League finals were released this week by the management committee. The Sydney Olympic Park Sports Halls at Homebush play host to last matches of New South Wales’ premier winter futsal competition.
In the men’s semi-finals Andrew Best will work with Nick Backo when first place Sydney Benfica takes on fourth ranked Campbelltown City Quake in the first semi-final. Gavin Lee and Jonathon Moore will preside over the other grand final qualifier between second place finisher Plumpton and Dural Warriors who snuck into third on goal difference in the last match of the regular season.
The Women’s final pits first against second when Campbelltown City Quake face Sydney Tragics ABCD. Both sides have a victory over the other in the two regular season meetings and highly rated female referee Alessandra Moussa will take charge of the decider. Alex Eroukhimovitch runs on the other side of the pitch while Gavin Lee will keep an eye on the benches as third referee.
After acting as third referees in one men’s semi-final each, FIFA futsal referee Scott Kidson and Ryan Shepheard will oversee the men’s finale together, with Andrew Best backing up from the opening match of the night to patrol the technical areas. The winners from earlier in the evening will get only a short break before trying to take home the second winter edition's crown.
Young referees who want to see some of the best futsal officials in the country strut their stuff have that opportunity from 7pm, when the first semi-final kicks off, until 9:15pm when the men’s final is scheduled to begin.
