The 2009/10 season will see NSWFRA Advanced Referees Panel members adding a new blue shirt to their kit bags and is expected to be greeted with a positive response.
Following the roll out of the NSWFRA’s new uniform in 2008/09 it was decided that a third colour was required for matches on the Futsal Premier and Super Leagues.
NSWFRA President Gavin Lee said he was looking forward to seeing top flight referees in the new kit.
“I think the blue is a very innovative colour which will stand out and make our referees look and feel the part on the pitch.
“Referees at international level in FIFA, UEFA and AFC tournaments use an almost identical colour so we are taking our inspiration from the highest level.
“Of course, you’ll continue to see our referees in the traditional all black and the neon yellow, but we want to ensure we are giving our referees the maximum possible flexibility when it comes to avoiding kit clashes. It’s another example of the NSWFRA continuing to move ahead with progressive and forward thinking”, Gavin Lee concluded.
