The NSW Futsal Referees Association is saddened to hear of the passing of life member, Mr Ian Timms.
Ian was the founder of futsal referees in NSW and Australia, having worked at Futsal Australia in the early 1980s. He was known to many who had the chance to work with him as "father", the person who guided you throughout your refereeing career.
Ian, alongside his lifelong friends, Ron Luce and Geoff Magennis, formed the backbone of a group of people that we now know today as the NSW Futsal Referees Association. His dedication encouraged a generation of match officials to continue in a sport that can offer so much, but rarely gets the acknowledgement it deserves.
Ian's funeral will be held on Friday, 22 November at Woronora Crematorium, 121 Linden St, Sutherland from 3:00 pm.
